ધોળાવીરાને UNESCO દ્વારા વર્લ્ડ હેરિટેજ સાઈટનું સન્માન
ગુજરાતની પાંચ હજાર વર્ષ પુરાણી પુરાતત્ત્વીય સાઈટ ધોળાવીરાને સત્તાવાર રીતે વર્લ્ડ હેરિટેજનો દરજ્જો અપાયો છે. ચીનમાં ચાલી રહેલી યુનેસ્કોની વર્લ્ડ હેરિટેજ સમિતિની બેઠકમાં આ નિર્ણય લેવાયો હતો.
આ પહેલા તેલંગાણાના રામપ્પા મંદિરને હેરિટેજ જાહેર કરાયું હતું. એ રીતે આ વખતે હેરિટેજ સમિતિની 44મી બેઠકમાં ભારતના બે સ્થળોને વર્લ્ડ હેરિટેજનો દરજ્જો મળ્યો છે.
The Harappan-era city of Dholavira in Gujarat has been added on Unesco's World Heritage List. Earlier, Rudreswara Temple in Telangana was added to the World Heritage List.
Dholavira, a Harappan-era city in Gujarat, has been inscribed as a World Heritage Site (WHS) by the UNESCO heritage committee.
The decision was taken at the ongoing 44th session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO held online and chaired from China on Tuesday.
The session had earlier named Rudreswara temple in Telangana, also known as Ramappa temple, as a World Heritage Site. "Kakatiya Rudreshwara (Ramappa) Temple received its inscription as a World Heritage Site on 25 July and Dholavira: A Harappan City was inscribed on the World Heritage List today, bringing India’s number of World Heritage sites to 40," a statement read.
